question of the day... new year's resolutions

It is that time of the year...  when we close out the old year and start the new...  some people make new year's resolutions....   you know, those things you promise yourself that you are going to do in order to make some change in your life...  like maybe you promise yourself you're going to keep your room clean, or exercise every day, or lose 10 pounds, or be nice to a brother or sister, or....   well, you get the idea.  I've quit making them cause I rarely keep them...

So the question of the day is...   are you going to make any New Year's resolutions?  If so, what are they?

Oh yeah...   and have a happy [and safe] New Year's celebration!!

caring for creation...

Just what did God mean when he told humanity to subdue and have dominion over the earth? [Bible reference: Genesis 1:27-28] If we destroy their habitats, will we not destroy our own?

It's raining outside...

It's raining outside...  a steady, moderately heavy rain.  Out my backdoor, I have a covered, well, not really a carport, but something similar.  I stood out there and watched as my backyard filled with birds of all kinds, some on the ground and some in the trees surrounding my yard.  They were singing and chirping and seemed to be thoroughly enjoying their bath in the rain.  It is amazing how other creatures seem to revel in and enjoy the very things that we humans sometimes think "ruin" the day.

Time vs. Money

They say "time is money"...  but if all you do is spend your time making money, it seems an awful waste of time...  David Norris says, "How you spend your time is more important than how you spend your money.  Money mistakes can be corrected, but time is gone forever."

What do you think?

Breaking the Laws of Physics...

One of the "things to ponder" today asked:  If you break the laws of physics, do you go to jail?"  But my question is:  Is it even possible to break the laws of physics?

Welcome to "Youth on the Edge"

This is a blog about youth and for youth...  youth being any age from middle school to...  It is called "Youth on the Edge" because young people are on the edge of everything in life...

the edge of the "establishment" as they test it's rules and order...
the edge of the accepted, as they ask "why?" or "why not?"...
the edge of faith, as they seek to find meaning and purpose in life... the edge of adulthood, as they move towards making their own decisions about all the choices life has to offer...
the edge of change, as they begin to find that their voices can count for something...
the edge of death, as many young people unfortunately see suicide as the only answer to the hurts and pains of life...
the edge of life, as they bring new life, literally and figuratively  into our world...

Well, you get the idea.  And if you are a young person reading this post, you are living the idea.

All people, regardless of chronological age, are invited to read and comment.  This is a place where choices and thoughts and ideas can be discussed...  and maybe minds can be opened and stretched just a little!!

I certainly hope that all who participate will be civil to each other!!  No name calling, or anything else along those lines, as you make comments either towards the author, or towards anyone else who might have left a comment.  Those comments that are rude, abusive, extremely profane or seriously off topic will be edited or deleted.

With all that in mind...  welcome to "the edge"!!
